The reason why I’m writing this really is, a person I knew (a good friend of mine) was prohibited in the aftermath of the December cube exploit. This friend was given a permanent ban despite having done nothing except come into contact with exploited items via the Free Maplestory Mesos Market. As I am certain you are aware, after such an exploit happens, the current market is immediately flooded with exceptionally excellent items. Ordinarily, the exploited items would be relatively easy to see, but this exploit took place during Miracle Time. As a result of this, some items were purchased without much suspicion and it is clear as anybody would purchase powerful items in a rush if they were being sold at a cheap price.

My buddy was not the only person who was penalized for coming into contact exploited items as numerous other players were permanently banned for getting exploited items. Most if not all of these innocent victims would not have willingly bought these exploited items had they known of the dubious nature, especially not in the risk of their account.

For several years, my friend has put a great deal of time, effort, and money into this sport and has consistently followed the game’s Terms of Use. He would not, under any circumstances, take advantage of an exploit because of how enthusiastic he is about the game. I strongly feel this also applies to a majority of those players who were banned for only coming in touch illegitimate items. Several of these people have tried to appeal their bans, but Nexon has diminished all of them as they believe that everyone involved (knowingly or unknowingly) are thinking about taking part in the exploit.

Finally, my friend gave up and accepted his undeserved punishment, and came to terms with it. However, this changed when the exact same exploit happened once more (this time, on July 24th). According to a lot of sources, July’s exploit was an exact replica of this one in December, however when the time came out to provide the punishments, only those people who performed the tap were banned. Everyone else that came by the Maplestory items were abandoned unbanned and most if not all those exploited items remain in flow. Basically, a much lighter punishment was given out this moment.
