The Romanian Judges’ Forum Association and The Initiative for Justice Association: “We feel complete solidarity with colleagues in Afghanistan. We call on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to grant visas in electronic format immediately to all Afghan judges and prosecutors whose lives are endangered”

The Romanian Judges’ Forum Association and The Initiative for Justice Association show their full solidarity and unconditional support to our colleagues, judges and prosecutors from Afghanistan, targets of the newly installed political regime in that state.

In the last 10 years dozens of magistrates and other judicial staff have been killed and injured, bombs being placed in the justice palaces or judges shot on the streets (2013, 2017, 2021), in vindicative attacks. Also, during the previous Taliban regime, there was a purge of the judiciary on technical and religious grounds.

In a brief interview with the Romanian Judges’ Forum Review, , given today, Afghan judge Tayeba Parsa (Kabul Court of Appeal) expressed serious concerns that, after the fall of the government, Afghan judges (and especially women judges) will be killed without any further trials to establish their guilty, they being already sought at their homes.

In the face of such an unimaginable situation, the international community must not remain careless. In addition to international pressure for the newly established regime to respect human rights, it is necessary to immediately open up all forms of humanitarian assistance, which are absolutely necessary for the people concerned.

To this end, we urge the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to grant visas electronically to all Afghan judges and prosecutors whose lives are endangered.

I wholeheartedly thanks rumanian judge’s forum association for supporting Afghanistan’s prosecutors and lawyers in such a difficult situation. You know that the so-called Afghan prosecutors and lawyers are the useful strata of society who are engaged in ensuring justice in the society and in this way they have made many sacrifices.I am Mohammad Aslam, son of Ahmad Jan. I have been working in the Prosecutor’s Office for 15 years I worked as a prosecutor in the Anti-Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office for seven years and the rest in the Kabul Appellate Prosecutor’s Office.
